Easter Perils - Page 2

Amy had reached the horseshoe pit when she heard a twig snap.  When she turned to look around, she was tackled to the ground.  Moments later, Amy blinked her eyes and shook her head before realizing that she was now gagged and thoroughly tied up.  She was also tethered to a metal stake and lay inside a ring of lime powder.  With her inside the ring, a beetle scrambled to avoid stepping across the lime, while a large spider did the same outside the ring.  Being afraid of beetles, Amy dared not to struggle too much, as to not disturb the lime.  If the lime ring was broken, the spider would find its way inside.  The beetle would then try to escape by crawling under Amy, with the spider in pursuit.  she had no choice but to shiver as the beetle and spider raced around their sides of the circle.  What dastardly villain would dream of this concoction?
Near the pond, Susie was skipping along when she heard a low growl.  Turning around just in time to see the attacker, a cloth was pressed over her nose and mouth before she collapsed into a deep sleep.  As she awoke, everything looked upside down as she had been suspended over the pond.  Her muffled grunts and struggles were futile.  Swamp flies buzzed around her head when she shook them away, causing the frogs below to flick their tongues to catch them.  She feared that the tongues of the larger frogs might reach her forehead and stick, pulling the frog upward during retraction.  How could a sane being subject little Susie to this tongue lashing?
