Spirit of the 4th

Being a new resident in town, Susan decided to attend the 4th of July celebration and enter the Best Pie contest.  Dressed in patriotic colors with pie in hand, she walks through the crowd where she meets some of the seasoned pie makers.  They offer her some friendly advice for entering the contest.  First, the contestant shouldn't influence voting, so she must remain out of sight to avoid this.  Susan agrees to be bound to a chair by the helpful neighbors.  Tightly tied and gagged, Susan's apple pie is placed next to her as the ladies begin to leave the room.  The last lady informs her that it is custom to have an Uncle Sam character arrive to untie the contestants and escort them to the judges table.  As she sits alone, no other contestants are brought in to join her.  As the head judge announces that all entries must be submitted, Susan realizes she has been betrayed.  Her struggles and muffled protests go unnoticed.  She can only sit and wait for rescue from Uncle Sam...or will he?
